Looking for a gift to give for pets or pet lovers? This DIY Dog treat holiday wreath is the perfect gift for dogs or pet lovers! You can also use this dog wreath as an easy DIY Christmas decoration!
It seems like everyone channels their inner DIYer when the holiday season rolls around. It can be so fun to craft gifts for all the special people in your life, but it is important to not forget the ones that really matter… our dogs!
They deserve a nice Christmas gift too! They work hard to guard the house and look cute while doing it.
And since it is the holiday season, I know it can feel impossible to add another thing on your to-do list. But this DIY dog bone wreath is SO easy and fast that you could whip this out in less than 20 minutes. So there aren’t any excuses to not give your dog a gift! 😉
I love this DIY dog treat wreath because it acts as both a decoration AND a gift! How cute would this be displayed above a dog bed? You can customize this dog wreath to your heart’s desire. Experiment with different ribbon colors, dog treats, and the wreath size.
You can use any dog biscuits: regular, mini or jumbo. But the dog biscuits I used are by Riley’s Organics. I personally like these treats because they are human-grade, organic, non-GMO, and have straightforward ingredients. Plus, they smell REALLY good (which is important if you’re making this to use as a decoration!).
This would be the “paw”fect gift for the dog lover in your life or for your own dog to show them you care (I think any dog would greatly appreciate this biscuit wreath!).
Materials to make this DIY Dog Treat Wreath:
- Circular cardboard cutout
- Ribbon
- Twine or string
- Dog biscuits
- Tape or hot glue
- Scissors or boxcutter
Directions:
Step 1:
Using a large bowl as your guide, trace a circle on a piece of cardboard (I used a cardboard pizza box because it was already flattened). Use a smaller bowl to trace the inside of your circle and cut the inner circle out to expose the center.
Don’t worry about getting a perfect cut since we will be covering up the cardboard with ribbon.
Step 2:
Secure your ribbon with tape or hot glue to what will be the back of your wreath. Wrap your ribbon around the cardboard until the whole circular cutout is covered and no cardboard is showing through. This step can be completed faster if you use ribbon with a wider width. Make sure to tape or hot glue the end so the ribbon does not unravel.
Step 3:
Tie a knot with your twine or string, making sure the string is secure. Then use your twine or string to wrap the dog treats to the wreath. Simply cross the string over the dog treat and under the cardboard.
Step 4:
Once all the treats have been secured against the wreath, tape or hot glue your string to the back of the wreath and tie a double knot to keep the treats from falling out.
Step 5:
Add a bow to the top of your wreath to cover the first knot.
There you have it! If you’re making this gift for consumption in mind, make sure your dog eats the treats while they’re still fresh. If making solely for decoration, no need to worry about the shelf life.
I hope this gift is a hit! If your recipient has four legs, I’m sure they will adore it.
